Schryver Park | Manitou Springs

This park in Manitou Springs has a mineral spring water that the town was built around, and the small pond situated there is a fantastic place for the whole family to spend their morning fishing.  The Colorado Department of Wildlife stocks the pond with a bounty of fish each year, setting you up for a fun afternoon in the park not far from Colorado Springs.

Officers Gulch | Frisco / Copper Mountain

This incredibly popular hike just off of I-70 between Copper Mountain and Frisco is short and family-friendly.  You’ll trek just half a mile into the pond, making lugging your fishing gear and your 3 year-old an easy task.

Curtain Ponds | Frisco / Copper Mountain

Just a few jaunts further west on I-70 will land you right at the Curtain Ponds, set right along the interstate and Tenmile Creek.  Be prepared to catch a few trout here as well as enjoy the incredible views of surrounding mountain vistas in the heart of the Colorado Rockies.

Trout Haven Ranch & Fishing Pond | Estes Park

Located in the beautiful Estes Park, this fishing pond is a solid find for those wanting to take their kids out on an angling adventure.  With no fishing license required and no catch and release policy placed, you can enjoy a fish dinner that night or even make a weekend out of it and stay at the lodging available.  Trout Haven Ranch & Fishing Pond is open year round as well and is home to multiple trout ponds.

Located on the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park, this dam created lake is full of different types of trout as well as salmon.  If you’re on the hunt for a picturesque mountain fishing excursion, be sure to add this one to your bucket list.

Fetchers Pond | Steamboat Springs

Grab some worms, small bait, and a light line and head to Colorado’s wild west to go fishing on Fetchers Pond.  This spot is conveniently located to the west of the main drive through Steamboat, making it easy to  bring the whole family for an outing.  Nab a rainbow trout on a beautiful spring day here and it’ll have the little ones smiling big.

Anyone who is looking for a quiet getaway to a nice lake or pond should take the above mentioned into consideration this spring.  Also keep in mind that Colorado’s weather is unpredictable, so be packed for everything from snow to sunshine.  Most importantly, have fun and enjoy your day on the water!
